Change the Anode Rod
The anode rod is places in the tank to prevent rust from forming on the sides. It does a good job, but it can wear out after two or three years. You should check yours every 6 months or so. If wire is showing through, it’s time to get it replaced.
Test the Relief Valve
The temperature pressure relief valve is an emergency valve designed to release water whenever pressure in the tank rises to dangerous levels. (High pressure can potentially cause an explosion). test the valve by discharging it two or three times in a row to make sure it’s working. If it isn’t, call in a plumber to get it fixed.
